Our Lady of Fatima
Let Us pray the Rosary

Who gave us the Rosary.
St Dominic was given the job, by Pope Innocent III, of converting the people of southern France who had accepted the Albigensian heresy. He asked Our Blessed Lady to help him in this difficult task. Our Lady gave him the Rosary and taught him to use it in all his difficulties. He preached this devotion, ever where he travelled. Our Blessed Mother rewarded his devotion and helped him convert these wayward Christians.

How to pray the Rosary.
The Rosary is divided into twenty decades. Each decade represents a mystery in the life of Jesus. These twenty decades are divided into four "Mysteries of the Rosary" (Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful and Glorious), said on specific days of the week, each containing 5 decades.

We begin the Rosary by blessing ourselves with the crucifix, say the Apostle's Creed and then following the small beads above the crucifix, say one Our Father, three Hail Mary and one Glory Be to the Father. We then meditate on the mysteries, say one Our Father and then ten Hail Mary's, which correspond to the ten smaller beads in each decade. Each decade is followed by Glory Be to the Father and Prayer to Jesus. At the end of the Rosary, say the Hail, Holy Queen.
